Leather Moulding Technique:
The piece is handcrafted using traditional leather working techniques, moulding the hide to a cast so that it takes-up the shape of the body without the need for seems. This method of construction produces a corset that hugs and subtly accentuates the wearer’s figure.
I would like to keep this very old leather technique alive by using contemporary designs with moulding. This is a very hands on method using vegetable tanned leather which is chemical and metal free. It is soaked in water which makes hide soft. To achieve the shape of the design it is sculpted onto to a cast by hand. Once dry it will take up the desired shape and will remain like it. After it is cut to the right shape it is hand dyed with leather dye and polished.
Very structured in its form, it is shaped deliberately to highlight the natural curve of the waistline.
