Decorative wooden lighting and woodturning made on a lathe in Brighton. Loosely following some of the values of the Arts and Crafts movement Sarah’s self-taught woodturning practice is informed by her formal fine art education and a desire to produce items that are both beautiful and useful with the capacity to enhance and transform our domestic environments for the better.
About
Each unique, the wooden lamps are made in small batches out of a range of timbers; lime for the majority, but also oak, cherry and walnut, often utilising waste from furniture making. Each item is both turned and painted on a lathe with great care and attention to details. Through this creative process shapes and colours change and evolve through an active search for a harmonious balance between the lamps form and its painted decoration, fed by Sarah’s observations and preoccupations with the world around her and her interests in art, craft, design and fashion. Sarah is happy to consider bespoke commissions.
