These charming decorations take their shape from a vintage Dutch biscuit mould, blending nostalgia with artisan craftsmanship. Each piece is hand-formed in warm red earthenware clay and dipped in smooth white slip, echoing traditional pottery methods.
Cobalt and copper oxides mixed with vinegar are swiftly applied to the surface, where they bloom into delicate, feathery patterns — a centuries-old decorative effect once created, rather unexpectedly, with potters’ chewing tobacco (today, thankfully, replaced by vinegar).
A glossy glaze completes the process, allowing the warmth of the red clay to glow through. The result is a surface alive with shimmering tones of green, gold, deep blue, and earthy brown — each piece uniquely expressive.
