Eve Claire Taylor
Eve has her workshop at Brighton Open Market Studios, she completed an apprenticeship with a local jeweller which enabled her to learn and develop jewellery skills. After living and working in France, she then returned to University in 2005, as a full time mature student on Brighton University’s 3D Craft course. Having developed her knowledge of metal work over three years to achieve a BA (Hons) degree. Eve now specializes in silver tableware, specifically spoons, condiment dishes and candlesticks. Her jewellery varies with gem set pieces and colourful enamelled earrings, necklaces and rings. Eve also teaches jewellery classes from her workshop in Brighton, East Sussex.
Natural forms are Eves main inspiration for her work. Pieces which combine practicality alongside ornamental qualities. Fluid shapes lend themselves perfectly to working with a versatile material such as silver. Eve fuses traditional silversmithing techniques with her own contemporary ideas, evoking a feeling of elegance within her work. Eve finds that balance, combined with evolving ideas is of equal importance. Eve likes to create silverware, which is practical, and ornamental. Her enamelled jewellery, also with plant designed themes add an element of colour to her silver work as do the gemstones that are set with silver and often gold.
