Maurice Young

Maurice Young

Maurice Young throws stoneware and porcelain pots, mainly for decorative use. His techniques of decoration involve crackle and crystal glazes, fired to high temperatures (1285°C).

Maurice has a BA, ACE and BEd.  He trained to teach in Bletchley Park, 1966-69. His subjects were Mathematics and Art.

Maurice began pottery in 1978.  After working with Tony Benham in Kent and Peter Lane in East Anglia he decided to concentrate on porcelain, one-off pieces and developed a number of crackle and crystal glazes.  He works at his home in Fishbourne, near Chichester.
