Linda Warrick
Ceramics
Linda Warrick originally trained as a ceramics teacher but since 1997 has focussed on working solely as a ceramic artist. Her sawdust smoked semi-abstract birds are exhibited in galleries throughout the U.K. A trip to Antarctica and the Southern Ocean in 2009 continues to inspire new work.
About
Each piece is individually hand-built using either stoneware (with porcelain terra sigillata) or porcelain. The next stage is burnishing, at least twice, which gives a particularly tactile appeal to the work. This is followed by biscuit firing in an electric kiln and, lastly, sawdust smoking in a variety of kilns. The unique carbon markings which are produced by this technique give exciting possibilities with each and every firing.
